If your Bildungspaket application is approved we invoice the city and you pay nothing at all.
Bildungs- und Teilhabepaket
The education package is not charity and it is not a favour. It is an entitlement written into the law. If your family receives certain benefits, the city pays for your child's learning support — and we send the invoice to the city instead of to you.

Families who receive one of these:
The child has to be at school, under 25, and not in paid training.
“The child has to be about to repeat the year.”
Not since 2019. The school only has to confirm that extra learning support makes sense. A grade that is slipping is enough.
“You have to pay first and claim it back.”
No. Once it is approved we bill the city directly. You never transfer money to us and you never wait for a refund.
Your benefit notice and your child's last report card. Photos on your phone are fine.
The provider section of the form, with you, at the table. It takes about ten minutes and it costs nothing.
Your child's class teacher confirms that learning support is sensible. One signature, no report.
At the Jobcenter or at the education package office of the Stadt Duisburg. If it helps, one of us comes with you.
We cannot approve anything — the city decides, and it usually takes two to six weeks. What we can promise is this: your child starts straight away, and we ask you for no money at all while the decision is pending. If it is refused we will tell you plainly and show you the letter, and your child can carry on at 59 € a month or drop in for 8 € an hour.
No appointment and no forms at the door. Come in and look at the room first.
Monday to Friday from two in the afternoon. See the room, meet whoever is teaching that day, ask anything you like. Nobody will put a form in front of you.
We look at the last exercise book together and ask a few questions. It is not a test and there is no grade at the end. We are looking for the point where things stopped making sense.
Your child joins a real group for a whole week — not a taster hour. If it does not fit, you owe us nothing and we part on good terms.
Monthly, cancellable to the end of the following month. If the education package applies to your family, this is where we fill the form in together.

Free, and we mean free
One whole week in a real group, with the real homework, at the real table. A single taster hour tells a family nothing.
At the end of the week we tell you honestly whether we can help. Sometimes the answer is that your child needs something we do not offer — then we say so and point you somewhere better.
Ask for a trial weekA place means one of four chairs, so they go quickly. If the group you want is full, ask for the waiting list — something usually moves within a month.

Ask for this groupTwo of us are here every day. On the busy afternoons two student teachers from the University of Duisburg-Essen sit in as well — one of them speaks Arabic.

Owner · Maths and physics
Taught at a Realschule in Duisburg for eleven years, then took the shop unit in 2016 because half of his class could not afford the tutoring they needed. Speaks German and Turkish, and enough English to get through a homework sheet.

German, English and DaZ
In the final year of a teaching degree in German and English. Runs the DaZ groups, knows which shelf every past paper is on, and never lets a question go unasked. Speaks German, Turkish and English.
We asked the pupils rather than the parents. One parent insisted anyway.
At school I don't dare put my hand up. Here we're only four, so I just ask.
I went from a 5 to a 3 in maths. Not in a week — but I know where to start now.
I finish my homework here, so at home I'm free.
I have three children. Fifty-nine euros I can manage. And with the education package they even helped me fill in the form.
One month at a time. You can cancel to the end of the following month, in writing or simply by telling us at the door. There is no longer notice period and no yearly contract.
Yes. Ten euros off the monthly price for the second child, and again for the third. It applies to every monthly group price.
No. You can speak to us in German, Turkish, English or Arabic, and we will read out and explain any letter from the school or the Jobcenter that you bring in.
No. We sit next to them while they do it and stop them at the mistake, not after it. Copied homework helps nobody in May.
We close for three weeks in the summer and between Christmas and New Year. You are not charged for closed weeks — the monthly price is worked out over the weeks we are actually open.
The shop unit is on Wanheimer Straße, two minutes from the tram stop. It is the door with the cardboard box in the window.

Homework drop-in runs Monday to Friday, 14:00 to 17:00.
We pick up the phone during opening hours and answer email within one working day.
